BLOG POST: How to Wrap a Blanket Scarf

Posted by

It’s that time of year again…..Blanket Scarf Season! Whether you wear it with a leather jacket, parka, denim jacket or on it’s own with a heavy knitted sweater, this is a fun and budget friendly way to accessorize your fall/winter look. There are many ways you can wear blanket scarves; below I have listed 5 of my faves.

(1) Handkerchief: Fold a square blanket scarf into a triangle. Drape over your neck, crossing the two end in the back and pulling back to the front, tie a loose knot on the ends and then hide under bulk of scarf.

(2) Belted Poncho: Fold a square blanket scarf into a triangle then drape over shoulders like a shawl and add a belt to create the belted poncho look.

(3) Braid/Pretzel: Oblong or fold a square into a triangle, drape over your neck, crossing the two ends in the back and pulling back to the front, pull one loose end half way through the middle(kinda like a bunny ear) then take the other end and either go over or under the bunny ear loop. The 2 ends can be left like that or tied in a knot. (this look give extra warmth on those -15+ winter days/nights.

(4) Draped: Hang the blanket scarf around the neck and leave the ends hanging down or you can even belt it to look like you're wearing a vest.

(5) Shawl/Cape: Fold a square blanket scarf into a triangle or use an oblong scarf and drape over shoulders like a shawl, with the two ends in the front. Once in the triangle take one end and lay it onto your shoulder making it the shorter side and then take the other end which will have more length and drape it over to the short end and cover the end on your shoulder.

My favourite go-to accessory store in The Six for everything from blanket scarves, hats, fascinators, rings, statement necklaces and trendy tassel earrings is Obsessions Fashion. With the holidays fast approaching (actually only 36 days until Christmas), don’t miss out on all the great deals Obsessions Fashion has both in-stores and online at www.obsessionsfashion.com.
